The Hamster

It all started with the Hamster - this bike was the beginning of cybercycles and is a milestone for me in many respects. I was looking for a compact cargo bike with a few ideas in my head when I met Stefano four years ago. He was immediately enthusiastic and welded the frame during the peak of Corona. The awesome folks from Kabuff Cycles crafted the front rack - fillet brazed by Hannes himself and the paint job was done by the renowned Dany.

The truth is, without this bike, I wouldn't have met so many amazing people, and thanks to everyone who joined in.

FEATURES

The fixed front rack, which doesn't steer, is great for medium loads. Another perk is that the rack doesn't tip over when you're loading and unloading. I went with a size that works for 95% of my inner-city commuting. It's also great for off-road adventures. The free suspension absorbs the load well and it rumbles less.

For a good center of gravity and as much storage space as possible, the front rack should hang as low as possible. I went with 24-inch wheels instead of 20-inch ones because I didn't like the look of 20-inch tires. This gives me a good balance between load volume, center of gravity, ride comfort and off-road capability. Thanks to the short chainstays, the whole bike is very compact and, at 11.6 kg, also quite light.
